Caliper is a cosmetic self-coaching app. Your face is measured on your device; your photos stay on your device except for two clearly-labelled AI features; nothing identifies you on our servers; nothing is sold or used for advertising.
What we collect: TrueDepth camera depth data and facial landmark geometry (distances, angles, mesh vertices) captured during a scan, plus the selfie photos you take.
How it is used: Depth and geometry are processed entirely on your device by Apple's ARKit and Vision frameworks to compute cosmetic measurements (e.g. inter-pupillary distance, jaw width, symmetry). They power your scores, charts and coaching plan. We do not perform identity recognition, do not build face templates for identification, and cannot identify you from this data.
Where it is stored: Measurements, mesh data and photos are stored only on your device (file-protected). Face geometry and depth data never leave your device.
Sharing: Face geometry and depth data are shared with no one. Photos are shared only as described below, solely to generate the result you requested.
Retention: On-device data persists until you delete it (Settings → Delete photos, or full reset). Photos transmitted for AI features are processed transiently and are not retained on our servers; AI providers process them under their API data-usage terms, which exclude training on API data.
Two features send your selfie over an encrypted connection to our processing service, which forwards it to an AI provider (Google or OpenAI) solely to generate your result: AI coaching feedback (scores/tips from your front and side photos) and AI visualizations (Future Self render, hairstyle preview). We keep no server-side copy; no account or identity accompanies the photo. These calls happen only when you start a scan or request a render.
Quiz answers (age range, gender, goals, routine), concerns you select, scores, history, streaks and your plan are stored locally and never uploaded.
We collect anonymous, aggregate counters (e.g. "a scan completed today"), crash reports without any identifiers, and a random per-install identifier used only to enforce daily usage limits. None of this is linked to your identity and none of it is used for tracking or advertising.
Your photos, scores and program data live on your device. Delete photos any time from Settings → Delete photos, or erase everything with account deletion in the app. We do not maintain user accounts or server-side photo storage.
Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat. We receive anonymous purchase state (to unlock features), never your payment details.
Caliper does not track you across apps or websites and contains no advertising SDKs.
